EU slaps sanctions on eight Russians, cos over acts in Libya, Syria

BRUSSELS, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- The E.U. has imposed sanctions on eight Russian individuals and three companies that were allegedly connected to the actions of paramilitary organization Wagner Group in Syria and Libya, according to a decision published in the E.U. Journal on Monday.

The list of sanctioned individuals includes Alexander Kuznetsov, who was sanctioned for alleged involvement in military warfare in Libya. The list of sanctions for the companies comprises velada, Mercury, and Evro Polis, which were sanctioned for exploration and production of natural resources in Syria. The Wagner Group was sanctioned for alleged violations of human rights in Syria, Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Mozambique, and Ukraine.

The sanctions prohibit entry to the E.U., as well as block all assets of the sanctioned entities in the region.
